I was raised on a Dairy farm in Ridgefield, WA and graduated as a Spudder in 1987. I went on to Clark College to play one year of volleyball and then to UPS to pursue my Master of Physical Therapy degree. I am proud of my 2 grown children, Darby and Alex, who are successful and live here locally.
I am married to Bryan Shull and currently reside in Vancouver, WA. My time treating patients is shared between Ridgefield Physical Therapy and Balanced Physical Therapy which I co-own with Kahn Khabra and Josh Laughlin. I also co-own Battle Ground Physical Therapy with Shannon Schram. My practice serves a wide variety of patients with some of my specialty pertaining to Male and Female Pelvic Floor. I assess and treat pelvic pain, digestion issues, bowel and bladder dysfunction and post operative scar tissue or tissue damage such as diastasis. As much as possible I spend time with family including my granddaughter, running, camping, hiking, cooking and volunteering. I look forward to every opportunity to help my patients learn to help themselves.
Kahn completed his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of St. Augustine in 2005. He is an American Academy Fellowship trained Manual Physical therapist whose treatment interests range from lumbar/cervical spine to the extremities. A published author and previous instructor, Kahn is also politically active on the state/national level to ensure the future of physical therapy. His undergraduate work was done in sports medicine at Western Washington University while competing in track and cross country. His spare time is spent with his family, partaking in road races, soccer, and motor sports.
Advanced Certifications
Jodi hails from the Midwest and is a PT with over 40 years experience, 20 of those here at Balanced. She brings a unique background to the evaluation and treatment of chronic pain, headache and spinal dysfunction and is usually able to help those who have not responded well to previous conservative treatment. She also loves to treat acute disc and TMD patients. Jodi investigates from head to toe (making corrective shoe orthotics if needed) and recognizes how daily postures and work positions can impact the body. Her goal is to partner with the individual to determine all contributors to their pain and dysfunction, allowing her to develop a very individualized treatment plan. She has been trained in several indirect techniques that she uses to address nerves that have become overly reactive, and she is the only certified practitioner of Myokinesthetics in the Portland/Vancouver area. Jodi has been trained in aerobic dance and Pilates. She remains active herself with hiking and biking as her favorite activities, and attends her daughter’s Barre classes as well.
Annie is from Hudson, Wisconsin and received her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. In 2019, Annie moved to Portland, Oregon to complete her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Pacific University where she was highly involved in community service and unique learning opportunities. In addition to outpatient orthopedics, her clinical experience includes working in pediatric, home health, and acute physical therapy settings. Annie’s practice focuses on holistic care and helping patients achieve their goals across the lifespan.
Annie is currently working to become a certified pelvic floor therapist through the Herman & Wallace Institute. Annie treats patients of all gender identities, and she holds a special interest in working with those healing from trauma by fostering a caring and educational environment.
Outside of the clinic, Annie enjoys soaking in the beautiful PNW with her fiancé. Her favorite activities include hiking, camping, kayaking/paddle boarding, gardening, reading, baking, and spending time with loved ones.
Alex was born and raised in Spokane, WA. and attended Seattle Pacific University where she played soccer, ran track and completed her undergraduate studies. After college, she travelled abroad before deciding to pursue a doctoral degree in occupational therapy from Northern Arizona University in 2018. After working with adults in multiple settings across the lifespan, Alex decided to specialize in pelvic health to address dysfunctions often overlooked in rehabilitation regarding urinary, bowel and sexual function.
Today, Alex’s practice serves women and men experiencing pelvic health dysfunction, neurological dysfunction and upper extremity injuries. She’s currently training to be a Pilates instructor and enjoys using these principles in treatment. Alex is passionate about helping her patients return to activities they love through movement, strength and development of mind-body awareness.
In her free time, Alex enjoys running, biking, reading, and spending time with her partner and three young children.
Hello, I am Diane McKinley, the massage therapist at Balanced Physical Therapy. I grew up in Corona del Mar CA where I was a ballet protégé, avid bodysurfer, and tomboy. I danced with the Newport Beach Ballet Co., and the U.C.L.A. Dance Company for the four years I was pursuing my B.F.A. After moving to Seattle where I met my husband Paul, I studied massage at the Brian Utting School of Massage. I have been honored to take advanced deep tissue training with Catherin Maxwell ND and Robert Haase, Pregnancy Massage with Carole Osbourne-Sheets and Reiki with Jack Blackburn. Having been a massage therapist for 20 years, I find inspiration in seeing what you need by watching you walk and listening to your concerns. I provide relaxation, deep tissue, sports & pregnancy massage. Watching you heal brings me joy.
When not working I enjoy bird watching, mushroom hunting, beach combing, acoustical guitar and photography.
